So the other night, my brother Max (remember, he was banned from the blog a few months ago) went to see Cake in Berkeley. It was a pretty good show. The opener, Honeycut, reminded me of a cross between OK Go and Beck. Beck because of how the lead singer danced and OK Go because when they had finished their first song, I was like "Ok, go....off the stage." But seriously, they were alright. Back to the dancing singer, I think the band would've been a lot more boring if you were just listening and not watching because the music wasn't all that great.
Cake was really good though. John McCrea said they never play with a setlist, they just decide what songs to play as they go along, so I'm going to tell you the songs they played in chronological order of when they were recorded...simply because I don't remember the order they were played in:
Comanche, Haze of Love, Rock 'N Roll Lifestyle, Frank Sinatra, The Distance, Stickshifts and Safetybelts, Mexico, Never There, Shadow Stabbing, Short Skirt/Long Jacket, Comfort Eagle, Love You Madly, Wheels, The Guitar Man.
They ended with a Black Sabbath cover, but I'm not sure what the name of the song was.
Listening To: The Arcade Fire - My Body is a Cage I'm living in an age Whose name I don't know Though the fear keeps me moving Still my heart beats so slow
